What AgentCeres does with Shopify

READS

Orders, products and inventory, discounts, abandoned checkouts, customer spend and tags, and your blog and pages — straight from your Shopify store, without ever reading a customer's name, email, phone number or address.

WRITES — ONLY AFTER YOUR APPROVAL

Edit products, prices, stock, collections, discount codes, customer and order tags, blog articles, pages and redirects. Every change is proposed as an approval card — for an edit, it shows each field's current value beside the new one — and runs once it's approved: by you, or automatically if you've switched on Auto mode for that project.

What AgentCeres reads from Shopify

  • Orders from the last 60 days — number, date, payment and fulfillment status, totals, the discount codes used, and the products, quantities and SKUs in each one
  • Products — title, status, vendor and type, tags, price range, and every variant's price, compare-at price and stock, plus the collections each product sits in
  • The search-engine title and meta description Shopify serves for each product and collection
  • Inventory by location — the available quantity of every variant at each of your locations
  • Discounts — each code or automatic discount, its value, status, start and end dates, and how often it has been used
  • Abandoned checkouts — when they happened, what they were worth, and what was left in the cart
  • Customers as numbers, not contacts — how many you have, their order counts, total spent, tags and last order date
  • Store content — your blogs, articles (draft or published) and static pages, so anything new fits what's already there

How AgentCeres uses Shopify

AgentCeres connects to your Shopify store with credentials you create for it: the Client ID and secret of an app you set up for your store in Shopify's Dev Dashboard, or an existing Admin API access token if your store still has an older custom app. From then on, whenever an agent is working on your store — in a scheduled brief or because you asked — it reads what it needs directly: recent orders, your catalog with prices and stock, discounts, abandoned checkouts, and your blog and pages. The reads are deliberately narrow about people. Your agents can see how many customers you have, what they've spent and how they're tagged, but the connection never asks Shopify for a customer's name, email, phone number or address.

Your SEO agent works on the parts of the store that search engines read: product and collection titles, descriptions and SEO fields, blog articles, static pages, and redirects that rescue old links and renamed handles from a 404. Your Research agent reads the commercial side — which products actually sell, which discount codes get used, how much value is sitting in abandoned checkouts — and ties it back to the rest of your growth work. When either agent wants to change something, it proposes the exact change as an approval card. For an edit, the card carries a What changes table with each field's current value, read from your store at the moment of the proposal, beside the new one. A product that no longer exists, a discount code that's already taken or a redirect path that's already in use is caught before the card is ever created.

What the connection can't do matters as much. It can't delete anything in your store, and it can't cancel, refund or fulfil orders — order edits stop at tags and internal notes, and customer edits stop at tags and notes too. New products are created as drafts unless the proposal marks them active, and even an active product only reaches your online store once you publish it to that sales channel in Shopify — a step the connection can't take. New articles and pages are created as drafts unless the proposal says to publish them, and a discount can be ended but not removed. An approved change runs straight away — whether you clicked approve or Auto mode approved it for that project — and every change traces back to the card that authorized it.

In practice

The SEO agent notices your best-selling products still have empty meta descriptions, writes one for each, and proposes them as approval cards — each showing today's blank field beside the new text — so the pages that earn the most stop showing whatever snippet Google improvises.

Shopify integration FAQ

Does AgentCeres integrate with Shopify?
Yes. You connect your store once, and your agents read orders, products, inventory, discounts, abandoned checkouts and store content whenever their work calls for it. They can also propose changes to listings, prices, stock, discounts and content — each one as an approval card.
What does AgentCeres read from my Shopify store?
Orders from the last 60 days with their line items, totals and discount codes; products with variants, prices, stock and SEO fields; collections; inventory by location; discounts and how often they're used; abandoned checkouts; and your blogs, articles and pages. Customer reads are limited to counts, order history, total spent and tags — never names, emails, phone numbers or addresses.
Can AgentCeres change my prices, stock or products?
Yes, through approval cards. An agent can edit a product's details and SEO fields, change variant prices and compare-at prices, set the available quantity at a location, add a product image, or create a new product (as a draft unless the proposal marks it active — and even then it isn't on your online store until you publish it there in Shopify). Each card shows the current value beside the proposed one, and the change runs once it's approved — by you, or automatically if you've switched on Auto mode for that project.
Can AgentCeres create discount codes?
Yes. An agent can propose a percentage or fixed-amount code for your whole store, with optional start and end dates, a usage limit and a once-per-customer rule. If the code already exists in your store, that's caught before the approval card is created. Ending a running discount works the same way — it stops applying, and it isn't deleted.
What can't AgentCeres do in my Shopify store?
It can't delete products, customers, orders or anything else. It can't cancel, refund or fulfil orders, or change an order's items, shipping or payment — order edits are limited to tags and internal notes. It never reads or edits customer contact details. And it can't send free-form commands to your store: it only runs the specific reads and changes described on this page.
Which AgentCeres agents use Shopify?
Your SEO agent, for product and collection SEO, blog articles, pages and redirects, and your Research agent, for sales, discount and abandoned-checkout analysis. Any change either one wants to make arrives as an approval card.
How do I connect Shopify?
Open Connectors in your AgentCeres dashboard, choose Shopify, and enter your store's myshopify.com address. Then create an app for your store in Shopify's Dev Dashboard — the connect page walks you through it — and paste its Client ID and secret. Stores with an older custom app can paste its Admin API access token instead. There's no App Store listing to install.
