The best AEO and GEO tools for small businesses in 2026

Por Jake Luo · Publicado el 4 nov 2026

An AEO tool, also called a GEO tool or an AI visibility tool, checks whether answer engines such as ChatGPT and Google's AI Overviews mention your business, and shows who gets cited instead. For a small business, the question that matters most is who does the work after the check. Most tools here measure and recommend, and leave the changes to you.

We read each vendor's own pages on 4 November 2026 and wrote down the entry price, the number of prompts, the engines, and what it says it changes. We make AgentCeres and rank it first because it is built for a business with nobody to act on the numbers. If you have a marketer who wants daily data, it isn't the best fit, and each card says who the option suits better.

  1. AgentCeres

    Mejor opción

An AI team with a GEO agent and an SEO agent. Each week it checks what ChatGPT and Google's AI Overviews say for a fixed set of questions, shows who gets cited instead, then gets your pages changed and drafts outreach for your approval.

    Ventajas
    • Does the fixes as well as the checks: it edits pages on a site we host, and on WordPress, Shopify and Contentful once you approve
    • Comes with SEO, social media and ads work, and can build your website, so it isn't one more tool to run
    • A free GEO audit to start, then plans from $15 a month
    Desventajas
    • Live ChatGPT and AI Overview checks need the $39-a-month plan or above; the free trial and cheaper plans get a rougher check
    • Weekly and sparse: about ten questions, one sample each, with no daily tracking and no dashboard of trends
    • Only ChatGPT and Google's AI Overviews, with no Perplexity, Claude, Gemini or Copilot
    • A young product: few independent reviews so far, and we wrote this comparison
    Precio:
Free plan; paid from $15/mo; full check from $39/mo
    Ideal para:
Small businesses with nobody to act on the numbers

    Desventajas
    • 15 prompts on the Lite plan, which a small set of questions uses up quickly

    Precio:
    $29/mo; 7-day free trial
    Ideal para:
Owners or marketers who will act on the numbers and want the lowest price
  3. HubSpot AEO

HubSpot says it "tracks your brand across ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity" and "tells you exactly what to fix". It needs no other HubSpot subscription.

    • The longest free trial here: 28 days, no card
    • A free one-time AI Search Grader if you only want a first look
    Desventajas
    • Three engines only, with no Google AI Overviews or Copilot
    • You make the changes. On Marketing Hub Pro or Enterprise you can act on recommendations inside HubSpot's tools, but you still act
    Precio:
    $50/mo; 28-day free trial
    Ideal para:
    Businesses already running on HubSpot
  4. SE Visible

SE Ranking's AI visibility product. It tracks how brands and sources appear across ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, AI Mode, Gemini and Copilot.

    • Unlimited seats, and 20% off on annual billing
    • A 10-day free trial
    Desventajas
    • $89 a month to start
    • It flags gaps rather than fixing them: "We're building agents that run the full workflow", it says, with its agents in Beta
    Precio:
    $89/mo; 10-day free trial
    Ideal para:
Teams tracking many prompts on a budget

    • $95 a month, with no annual price shown
    • Perplexity is a paid add-on or Enterprise, and Claude is Enterprise
    • Someone on your team still has to carry out the work

Marketing teams with someone to act on it

    • Also included in Ahrefs Lite at $129 a month, with 150 checks
    • A natural fit if you already use Ahrefs
    Desventajas
    • Metered checks: more platforms means fewer prompts, and Claude uses 8 checks per update
    • It measures. Nothing on the page says it changes your site
    • Written for people comfortable with SEO tools
    Precio:
    From $50/mo for custom prompts
    Ideal para:
Teams that already work in SEO data

    • Sits next to Semrush's SEO data, if you already pay for it
    Desventajas
    • Its pricing page shows $99 a month per domain, billed annually, and its help page says each extra user needs another license
    • Its pages disagree on a trial: the help page says there is none, and the footer offers seven days
    • You make the changes; content workflows are listed under Enterprise
    Precio:
    $99/mo per domain, billed annually
    Ideal para:
    Teams already on Semrush

    • Its page says both "stages" and "republishes", so ask what runs without your approval
    • Built around larger brands and sales demos
    Precio:
    Not public; 7-day free trial
    Ideal para:
Larger brands with a budget and a team

Which one fits your business

You have nobody to act on the numbers. A dashboard won't help you. Start with AgentCeres, which checks less often than the trackers but gets the changes made.

You or a marketer will make the fixes. Start with Otterly.AI for the lowest price, or HubSpot AEO if your business already runs on HubSpot.

You need to track a lot of prompts. Compare SE Visible with Ahrefs' custom prompts, and count how many engines you really need, because each one uses up your allowance.

You already pay for an SEO suite. Try its AI add-on first. Ahrefs Brand Radar or the Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit sit next to the data you already read.

You are a large brand with a team. Look at Profound and Peec AI, and ask for a demo.

What ChatGPT actually cites

On 4 November 2026 we asked ChatGPT's public web search six questions a small business might ask about SEO and GEO tools, signed out, from the US, once each. Of the 43 citations it gave, 23 went to a company's own homepage or pricing page, and 17 went to roundups and buying guides, many on small sites. That's a small sample from one category, and answers change between runs. It still suggests where to start before you pay for tracking: make your own homepage and pricing page clear, and get listed on the guides these tools read. Our page on generative engine optimization has the full numbers.

Four questions to ask before you pay

  1. How many prompts do I get, on which engines? Check the plan you would actually buy. Several tools list more engines than their entry plan includes.
  2. How is one prompt measured? AI answers change between runs, so one sample is a rough reading. Ask how many runs stand behind a number.
  3. Who makes the change? "Recommends", "drafts" and "publishes" are three different products. If nobody on your team will do the work, the first one won't change anything.
  4. What can go live without me? Find the vendor's own wording, and check whether approval is the default or a setting.

If you want the background first, read GEO vs SEO and how to get cited by ChatGPT. If search is the bigger gap, our AI SEO agent covers the work GEO builds on.

Preguntas frecuentes

What is an AEO tool?
Software that checks whether answer engines such as ChatGPT and Google's AI Overviews mention your business for the questions your customers ask, and shows who gets cited instead. Most also suggest what to improve. Few make the changes.
What is the difference between AEO and GEO tools?
Mostly the name. Answer engine optimization (AEO) and generative engine optimization (GEO) describe the same work, and vendors use both, along with "AI visibility" and "AI search optimization".
What is the best AEO tool for a small business?
It depends on who will do the work. If nobody will, choose something that makes the changes, such as AgentCeres. If you or a marketer will, Otterly.AI has the lowest public price for daily tracking on our list, and HubSpot AEO suits businesses already on HubSpot.
How much do AEO and GEO tools cost?
The trackers' public entry prices we read on 4 November 2026 ran from $29 to $99 a month, and Profound doesn't publish one. Agencies cost far more. WebFX says small businesses typically pay $1,500 to $5,000 a month for GEO, and eSEOspace lists plans from $750 to $4,000, both on their own sites.
Are there free AEO tools?
Yes, for a first look. HubSpot's AI Search Grader is a free one-time check, and our free GEO audit shows who AI answers cite for your category. You can also ask ChatGPT your customers' questions yourself, signed out, and write down who it names.
Can a tool get my business cited by ChatGPT?
No tool can promise that. A tool can show you where you stand and what to change. Getting cited comes from pages that answer the question plainly, sites AI crawlers can read, and mentions on the guides these engines already trust.
Do I need an AEO tool if I already do SEO?
Not on day one. AI search tools read the same web, so good SEO carries over. A tool earns its place when you want to know what the answers themselves say, because your analytics won't show it.
